4 Tips for RPA Integration

Organizations in all industries are taking a big interest in RPA and for a good reason. Numerous tasks in are highly repetitive in nature and ripe targets for automation. Companies deal with many different systems and have a tendency to move data manually from one system to another. Many operations have tasks with digital inputs that use structured data and have distinct rules. RPA is highly efficient for automating tasks such as: extracting and entering data, processing forms, updating forms, merging, consolidating, archiving, downloading, updating, and uploading files. Many of these activities can be automated, allowing for faster more accurate processing.

Here are four tips for a successful RPA deployment::
Think through your automation objectives:
Multiple systems to update: This requires the employee to manually key information from one system into another system. .

Select the top RPA candidates:
When researching RPA, companies should look for tasks with digital inputs that use structured data and are highly repetitive. Deconstruct your back-office process with fresh eyes, use someone that does not know every detail of the current system. Document and gather statistics on the volume of repetition to identify the top candidates.

Keep the list of candidates agile:
Select the top 50 processes to automate and then evaluate that list weekly to shift priorities or add and remove based on experience with RPA in the organization. This will help to avoid areas that have proven challenging, building realistic expectations in the organization for expected returns, and develop change management processes.

Build a center of excellence:
RPA can take off like wildfire in a company. As it begins to take off, have an eye to sustainability of momentum. Building a team to support business owners who are interested in introducing RPA into their area, a team to define the requirements and scope the work, a team to execute the initiatives and a team to maintain the deployment once completed. Make sure the RPA deployment is business led, IT should support, provide guidance, develop requirements and deliver the infrastructure.
